Annual Fishing Tournament
and Fish Fry/Potluck Dinner

—Fishing Tournament & Potluck Dinner Will Be on September 2nd Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, September 3rd! King’s Country residents, family and guests are invited to the annual interior lakes fishing tournament and fish fry/pot luck dinner. The Interior Lakes Fishing Tournament – Here’s your opportunity to try your luck at catching the biggest and/or the most fish! The contest includes all five interior lakes and is open to all ages. We request that catch record forms, placed in Ziplock bags at each of the lakes (and on the KC website), be completed by participants whether you catch fish or not and for each lake you fish. The data we get from the forms helps us evaluate the fishery and see how we’re doing on the stocking and maintenance. You can start fishing anytime Saturday morning. We will primarily rely on self-reporting by participants. I will be stationed at Prince Lake Park off and on during the day. I and/or volunteers will periodically visit the interior lakes during the day to see how it’s going. The tournament will conclude at 3 p.m. Please hand me your forms when you finish fishing but no later than 3 pm, or you can leave your completed forms in the designated Ziplock bag. Make sure you check off which lake you fished and your name and contact information. Fishing tournament rules will be on the back of the catch record form (and on the KC website). Each participant must only report the fish that they themselves catch. Prize categories will include: (1) largest bluegill; (2) most bluegill; (3) largest bass; (4) most bass; (5) largest catfish; (6) most catfish; (7) largest crappie; (8) most crappie; (9) most unusual catch; and (10) most fish overall. Tournament prizes will be announced and awarded at the potluck dinner. What do you do with the fish you catch? Please return bluegill unless you would like to keep them for your own consumption. We suggest that you do not return any bass (all sizes), crappie (all sizes) or catfish (>12 inches) to the lake. You are welcome to keep these fish for your own consumption or you can let them go in the main lake. Thinning the predator fish out helps ensure balance in the interior lakes. The Fish Fry/Pot Luck Dinner – Following the fishing tournament, plan to enjoy the evening community fish fry and potluck dinner, which takes place from 5:30 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse. KC will be serving fried fish, French fries and hushpuppies. Please bring a dish of your choice, such as hors-d’oeuvres, meats, veggies, salads and desserts. In past events, these dishes have been extremely popular and will help us to make sure there is an adequate amount and variety of food to go around. We need volunteers for both events. Please let Paul Harris or Linda Backus know. Hope to see you there!
